Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas. On Christmas Eve we went to G & G S's. We had music and Grandpa read the Christmas story and we opened presents...not to mention stuffing ourselfs with treats ;-) I missed your family, Aunt Nita. We opened up presents in order from Aunt Naomi down to Uncle Noel. Somebody said we should call and see how your presents were progressing to see if the Uncle Nathan's family could open up theirs yet ;-) We stayed till midnight.
On Christmas us kids got up at 7:30 and opened up our stockings. Then Mom and Dad got up and we surprised them with stockings that we had stuffed for them. That was really fun. Then the boys and Dad did the chores and then we opened presents. I got a rotary cutter and cutting mat! Quilting, here I come! (I hope?) Those were the highlights of my gifts. I also got a Laura Ingals Wilder audio book (I love those) and some cool baking supplies. Oh, and in my stocking I got a spool of sock yarn! I hope to make a cool scarf with it.
In the afternoon G & G M came over. We had a good time with them. After supper we opened up presents with them. I got a bunch of note writing supplies. Perfect!
Have a great day!

Avery's Predicament

I have a funny story to share.
Avery had a loose molar that was very loose but was holding on by a nerve. He couldn't eat solids because it would hurt and he couldn't get it out because that too would hurt. So a couple days later Dad called the dentist and they made an appointment for 11:00 A.M. (it was almost 10:00) unless Dad called back in 15 min. That put the pressure on Avery and he let Mom take it out. She put a wet napkin on her fingers, got a firm grip and did a quick tug. It came out right away. Afterward he said "That wasn't so bad!" Mom and Dad bribed him with $15 and being able to watch a movie he was wanting to watch :-) Mom says next time she'll know not to pay him so much.

Caroling

Yesterday I went with my family (except for Avery) caroling with the homeschool group. We did it at Windmill Ponds, an assisted living home. It was pretty fun, and I think the people enjoyed it.
Other than that I did my school, listened to an audio book, and was watching a movie with some others.
I can't believe Christmas is in 6 days! I'm so excited! Are you?
I have piano lessons today. I am looking forward to that.
I have some projects I want to do on my sewing machine. I have fabric for either a travel mat with pockets or a skirt. Mom said the travel mat would probably be easiest, so I'll probably do that. I have some audio books from the library that I love listening to while I sew, so maybe I'll do that today.
Have a great day!
P.S. I like making desserts, so if you have some fun recipes I would love to see them :-)

cookies

Yesterday me and my siblings went to G & G M's for a sleepover. Today we made cookies with them. That was pretty fun.
We were watching 'National Treasure I'. It's a really fun and suspenful movie. We were just taking a break, so I decided to write while I waited.

Today Ethan, Will, Natalie, and Riley are coming over so their mom can get some shopping done. We're not going to go swimming at the Y. I hope to baby-sit Riley! I'm so excited. Mom says I have to share him with her, though ;-)
This year in history I'm studying about ancient history. It's one of my favorite cores ever! I'm enjoying it so much! Last year I had one of my worst cores. I was studying about places like India. I liked studying about Russia, though. I hope to go there sometime with someone when I'm a young adult, like 17 or 18.

Christmas Letter

I've finished writing the second draft of the Christmas letter. Hopefully it'll be the last one because I am TIRED of WRITING. Tired of writing the letter, anyway. I have finished school and hopefully finished the Christmas letter. I should sew once I can get the help of Mom with a problem with my machine. It started doing the wrong length and tension of stitch when I was a few inches from finishing my project! Don't you hate it when that happens?
I've made a goal of sewing for at least 30 min. each day (with a couple of exceptions on really busy days). I have a couple projects I want to do before Christmas. I'm that sort of person; I have all kinds of ideas and I save it all for the last minute! I just have to stick with a couple things when I do that :-)
My piano lesson went well. Charis is the best teacher! My goal has always been to play 'Bumblebee Boogie'. Hopefully I'm pretty close to that! Then maybe my next goal should be Lizt? I'll cross that bridge when it comes. I just dream a lot ;-)

A new day

Today I'm going to do school, then I'm going to have my piano lesson, then hopefully I'll get up the oomf to work on the Christmas letter. Ooh, I don't have much time left. Maybe I should do it wether I have the oomf or not! I have a few other things I should do, but I don't really want to do. Such as cleaning my room ;-) I guess I'll do what I can.

Ufda!

I did about 4 and a half hours of shopping with Grandma! We went to Walmart, then to Target, then to Claire's, then to Bath and Body (didn't find anything in the latter two that worked), then we went back to Walmart and found what we wanted. Rather tiring, but very satisfatory. Now for the wrapping...
P.S. I rewarded myself with around 6 or 7 sets of earrings ;-) All were totalled $4.88 :-)

Shopping

I am almost done with my school! I just have piano and science left (I'm studying zoology in science). This is part of my creative writing.
Today (as I've said) I'm going shopping with Grandma. It'll be so nice to be done with Christmas shopping! Hopefully I can keep it fairly short...a long time in town is not the best thing for me :-) I told Grandma that it probably wouldn't even be 45 min., but I'm not so sure now.
Alright, I'd better get off now; I have to practice piano, read science to Bennet and Laurel, and eat lunch...before 12:30!

Sore!!!!! :-$

Oh boy am I sore!!!! I just got in from skating...I need to get in shape!!
We played some hockey with some others. I think my team won, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it was fun. Now I'm sore.
I hope we can watch a movie tonight. I don't know if we have a good one on hand, though. Although we do have a store with movies for rent :-)
I am so excited! I can't wait to go shopping with Grandma (at 12:30 P.M. Maybe I should do a little schoolwork ahead of time)! And none too soon; Christmas is in 13 days! Another thing to be excited about!
One thing I love about Christmas is coming down in the morning to presents all around the Christmas tree and reaching into stockings. I also love watching others open up presents from me.
Have a great evening!
P.S. I'm must be happy; I'm doing a lot of exclamation marks! ;-)
P.P.S. I think there's something goofy going on; it's showing the posts 2 hours before they were actually posted :-/
Just got home from church. I'm going skating with some friends pretty soon...one good thing about winter!
Here are my plans for this week:
Mon:
Shopping with Grandma M's
Tue:
Piano lessons
Wed:
Not sure :-)
Thurs:
Swim day @ YMCA for homeschoolers
Fri:
Cleaning, sleepover @ Grandma M's
Sat:
Be @ Grandma M's. Hopefully I'll get home soon enough for a Christmas party with some girl cousins.
I'm not usually this busy...or maybe I'm turning this into a new normal. I'm not sure.
Have a great day!

Skating

I just got in from skating on our pond with some friends. That was real fun! It's pretty dark now...winter! I'd better get out and milk the goats.

Farm Girl

Hi! I'm Eleanor. I'm 10 years old and I decided to do a blog under the supervision of my parents. I love writing, so I think this is the thing for me.
I live in Minnesota in the country with my parents and four siblings. We have 14 acres. On those acres we grow chickens for eggs, 6 goats for milk (and sometimes meat), and 3 cats (just pets, of course  :-) Not literally a farm, just a hobby farm ;-)
This year we decided to experiment with geese. We grew 15 of them. We butchered 12 of them, and the other three we are going to over-winter so that they can lay eggs in the spring and hatch them out so we don't have to buy more.
We also have a garden. We grow veggies, berries, and apples in the summer.
I look forward to sharing more!
